Useful For
Testing for ADNase-B antibodies is important for confirming an existing or recent streptococcal infection. The antibody response to streptococcal ADNase-B is stronger, but begins later than the formation of ASLO. ADNB documents recent Group A Streptococcus infection and is the most consistent of available tests. Unlike ASO, ADNB antibodies are produced in skin infections.? Interpretations
An infection of group A streptococci effects production of specific antibodies against various streptococcal exoenzymes, with two of the most important of being anti-streptolysin O (ASLO) and anti-deoxyribonuclease-B (ADNase B). Among the assays for antibodies to various streptococcal exoenzymes, the ASLO assay is important as a sensitive parameter, since it has been found to be elevated in about 80-85% of cases. The sensitivity of antibody testing is increased to 95% when both ADNB and ASO are performed.
