Collection/Processing Instructions

For Capillary samples avoid milking or squeezing the puncture site.

 

DO NOT introduce air into the collection tube.

 

Place all capillary samples in a protective carrier for transport to the lab.

 

Ice pack cooling is not required if sample is analyzed within 30 minutes.

 

Analyze immediately.

Test Components

Panel includes Blood Gas (pH, partial pressure of carbon dioxide pCO2, partial pressure of oxygen pO2, bicarbonate HCO3, base excess BE, O2 Saturation), Sodium, Potassium, and Ionized calcium

Interferences

Potassium is only stable for 20 minutes on ice. Longer delays will cause falsely elevated results.
