Collection/Processing Instructions

Serum to be obtained from blood collected in tubes without gel barriers must be centrifuged and removed from cells within one hour of collection for storage and transport. 

 

Do not send the primary collection tube(s).

Rejection Criteria

Samples not meeting specimen requirements or stability information.
Specimens in contact with cells for more than 2 hours.
Grossly hemolyzed, icteric, lipemic samples
Serum Separator Tubes (SST) are not acceptable.

Includes GLU, BLIPO (Total Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Triglyceride, calculated LDL cholesterol and NONHDL Cholesterol), and NICTS (Nicotine and Metabolites).
