Useful For
Glucose measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of carbohydrate metabolism disorders, including diabetes mellitus, neonatal hypoglycemia and idiopathic hypoglycemia, and pancreatic islet cell carcinoma.
This test is used for non-fasting patients, if patient is fasting order "Glucose, Fasting" FBS.

Collection/Processing Instructions
Samples collected in non-gel tubes must be centrifuged, plasma/serum removed, and aliquoted from cells within one hour.
Samples collected in gel tubes should be centrifuged within one hour of collection.
Samples being sent from regional/outreach centers should not be sent on gel; please aliquot and send.
