Collection/Processing Instructions
Collect fresh stool specimens in a clean, airtight container with no preservative. Transport to laboratory promptly and refrigerated at 2-8° Celsius.

Stool in transport media, preservatives, or on swabs.
Test Information
Test results are intended to aid in the diagnosis of H. pylori infection and to monitor response during and post-therapy in patients. Accepted medical practice recommends that testing by any current method, to confirm eradication, be done at least four weeks following completion of therapy. Test results should be used in conjunction with information available from the patient clinical evaluation and other diagnostic procedures.
Interferences
Antimicrobials, proton pump inhibitor, and bismuth preparations are known to cause false negative H. pylori antigen results. Patients should be removed from these drugs for 2 weeks prior to testing. Alternatively, patients who test negative for H. pylori should have the test repeated after being off the drug for 1-2 weeks if clinically indicated.
