Collection/Processing Instructions
Nasal specimen collected with a COPAN Dual Swab. Leave swabs attached to the red cap. Do not cut or break swabs off to place them in the tube. Alternatively, collect a single white (preferred) or green-capped ESwab.

Rejection Criteria
Specimens with excessive nasal mucus
Specimens with excessive blood on swabs
Specimens exposed to excessive heat
Sources other than nasal swabs
Swabs that are cut or broken off in transport tube
Test Information
The performance characteristics of this test have not been established in patients less than 2 years of age.
Additional aerobic culture and antibiotic sensitivity testing can be performed on positive specimens if the lab is contacted within 72 hours of specimen collection
