Collection/Processing Instructions
Collect fresh catheterized or clean-catch urine.
Send specimen to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection.
The first morning void is the preferred specimen.
Specimens should be properly labeled with the patients name and medical history number, date and time of collection.

Test Information
Reagent strips are unaffected by turbidity, radiographic contrast media, most drugs and their metabolites, and urine preservatives that occasionally affect protein precipitation tests.
Interferences
Strongly pigmented urine interferes with the color reaction. This may be seen with pigments such as bilirubin and drugs such as phenazopyridine (Pyridium), and other azocontaining compounds, which give a vivid orange color.
