Tissue Tissue, Paraffin Embedded Block, or Unstained Air-dried Slides, Fixed in 10% Neutral Buffered Formalin.  If sending unstained slides, call for additional information.

Submit completed Histology requisition form with patient history and tissue source information.  

 

This is surgical pathology Group I stains for microorganisms. Included in this Group I category: Auramine O; Brown-Hopps; Fite's; Methenamine Silver Stain; Modified Steiner-Chapman for Spirochetes and Ziehl-Nielsen Stain for Acid Fast Bacteria, PAS Fungus

Unstained Slides, Air-dried - Call Histology for type, number, thickness, and additional information on slides required. Room Temperature/Ambient Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity. Stability thresholds vary widely among published literature and are antigen-dependent.  Best practice is for paraffin sections to be cut fresh.
