Vancomycin is a glycopeptide antibiotic that is bactericidal against many gram-positive and some gram-negative cocci.

Collection/Processing Instructions
Sample should be transported to lab on a cold pack (if sample is not on a cold pack it is acceptable as long as separated from cells within 60 minutes).
If sample will not be assayed within 2 hours of collection it should be frozen.
EXACT DRAW TIME must be noted--both on the specimen label and on the request form/computer request.
