Test Code VITD Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy D2 and D3, Serum

Useful For

This is the first-line test for assessing Vitamin D status. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is involved in mineral homeostasis and plays an important role in calcium metabolism, parathyroid hormone release (PTH) and osteoblast formation. 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels are used to diagnose intestinal malabsorption, and vitamin D deficiency or intoxication. Additionally, 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels may be used to monitor therapeutic response in patients being treated for vitamin D-related disorders.
